Dosimetry: Bonner spheres spectrometer
The spectrometer for neutrons detection from cosmic radiations and measurement of their energy
has been renewed and upgraded to improve count-rate to a factor 4. Vladimir Mares and Ferdinand
Bergmeier from the Institute of Radiation Protection (Helmholtz Zentrum München) were here at
the station to perform this task (read more). In Ny Alesund, they gave a public lecture to the
community (announcement poster). AWIPEV overwintering staff could complete the setup when
missing coaxial adapters were received to connect the Bonner sphere pre-amplifiers to the multiports
rack controller and analyser: signal from all fourteen detectors could finally be measured.
