Spring Atmospheric Measurements Campaign

As every year at AWIPEV, spring is the high season for atmospheric measurements and studies
especially about atmospheric boundary layer and troposphere. Observations are concomitant and collocated with airborne measurements of PAMARCMIP expedition (more details about PAMARCMIP can be found here). Here are some of the on-site experiments.

Tropo-Lidar - aerosol investigations

Mission:
  • Continuation of long-term measurements,
  • Collocated observation with PAMARCMIP, "closure experiments": comparison between  remote sensing (Lidar, photometer) to in-situ measurements aerosol sampler P5, and observation at Zeppelin & Gruvebadet stations.
  • Training the new observatory engineer with routine measurements.

“Miss Piggy“ gracefully floating in the sky for:

  • Boundary layer investigations.
  • Master thesis field work.
  • Collocated measurement with PAMARCMIP.
  • Windlidar validation

Eddy Covariance system

  • Boundary layer investigations.
  • Katabatic wind outflows observation of the Broegger glacier in correlation with “Miss Piggy” observation at higher altitude.
  • Windlidar validation.
